Deb Davies specialises in criminal litigation and is based in Palmerston North. She was admitted to the bar in 1998 and has over 25 years experience in criminal law. Deb has appeared as counsel in over 200 jury trials in both District and High Courts. The numerous trials she has led include murder, serious drugs, fraud, sexual crimes and other crimes of violence. Deb has also appeared on numerous appeals and had considerable involvement with regulatory prosecutions over the course of her career. Her background is in crown prosecution and in September 2023 she left the partnership and commenced practice as a barrister. She is now using her skills, knowledge and expertise to obtain the best outcomes for clients. Deb’s focus is on providing outstanding advocacy, as well warm, common- sense advice and creative solutions within the framework of the criminal justice system. She represents clients charged with the most serious of alleged criminal offending, both privately and as a legal aid provider. Deb has been a member of the Litigation Skills Faculty since 2019, teaching advocacy to junior lawyers.
